La technologie de mesure des ondes de choc supersoniques offre une prise de mesure bien plus large que celle des chronographes optiques. Ce qui permet de mesurer des vitesses balistiques ailleurs qu’à la bouche et ainsi contrôler son coefficient balistique efficacement.

C’est un chronographe de tir qui détecte l’onde de choc d’une balle supersonique. Une balle subsonique ne génère pas une onde de choc et ne serait donc pas détecté par ce produit.
Le SuperChrono utilise des micros ultrason qui détectent l’onde de choc de la balle. Le premier capteur est frappé puis le second.
L’électronique incroyablement rapide du SuperChrono utilise ses capteurs 40 millions de fois par seconde. Le temps séparant la prise mesure des deux capteurs donne la vitesse du projectile.
Son utilisation est tout à fait compatible avec un pas de tir, ses capteurs sont directionnels et précis et ne mesurent que ce qui passe à leur portée, aucun risque de fausser les résultats avec les tir avoisinants.
A titre d’exemple, disons la prise de mesure est de 0,00025 secondes, tandis que la distance entre les deux capteurs est de 200 millimètres. Le temps qu’il faut à la balle pour parcourir 1 mètre , soit 0,00025 x 1000/200 = 0,00125 secondes. Cela donne une vitesse de balle de 1 / 0,00125 = 800 mètres par seconde.
